FINAL TWO ROUND ROBIN GAMES AT ICE JAM
HAMMOND PLAINS, NS, January 12, 2013 - The final two round robin games at the East Coast Ice Jam were played Saturday morning with the Fredericton Canadiens defeating the South Shore Mustangs 4-2 and The Miramichi Rivermen edging the Cape Breton Tradesmen 4-3.

Playdowns begin at 1:00pm with four Wild Card games at the BMO Centre. Quarter Finals start at 6:00pm Both semi final games are slated for Sunday morning at 9:00 and 9:15 am with the finals at 2:00pm.

The Canadiens won their first game of the tourney this morning coming back with three goals in the third after the game was tied at one in the second. Ryan Dunlevy scored in the first assisted by Matthew Paul to get the Canadiens off to a 1-0 lead. ut Riley Donaldson knotted the score with a power play goal in the second.

However Fredericton took charge in the third with a unassisted goal by Matt Astle and a power play goal by Benji Curtis to take a lead they never relinguished. They added their final goal into an empty net as the Mustangs who had narrowed the score to 3-2 with a goal by Jordan Messenger pulled their goalie for an extra attacker. Taylor LeBlanc scored the empty netter.

Connor Arnott was the winner in net while Cory Peterson took the loss.

The Cape Breton Tradesmen made a valiant effort to come back and win the game against the Rivermen after being down 4-0 late in the second but it was too little too late. The Rivermen scored three power play goals on their way to the win with Samuel Castonguay getting a pair and Dawson Warman and Daniel Gallant adding singles.

Less than a minute after the final Miramichi goal the Tradesmen started their comeback attempt scoring three, two in the third on power plays. Drew Wilcox, Brandon Syms and Shaun Neville each scored singles.

Antoine Landry tok the win in net. Logan Cooke was tagged with the loss and was pulled after the final Rivermen goal to be replaced by Jordan Latour.
