THURSDAY'S FINAL FOUR GAMES HISTORY
HAMMOND PLAINS, NS, January 10, 2013 - The final four games of today have just finished at the East Coast Ice Jam tournament and featured a rare tie as the Saint John Vitos and the Dartmouth Major Midgets ended knotted 3-3. The Moncton Flyers edged the Valley Wildcats 5-4 and the Cole Harbour Wolf Pak pulled out a 4-3 win over Cornwall Thunder. The only blowout of the final four games was Cape Breton West Islanders shutting out the Western Kings 5-0. 

Play resumes tomorrow morning at 9:00am but closes down after two 5:00pm games so the players can attend a Mooseheads game. Playoff rounds begin Saturday morning.

The Vitos led their game in the early going, up 2-1 after the first and again 2-1 after the second as neither team scored. But Dartmouth came back in the third with a pair while the Vitos could only get a single to knot the game at three all.

Eric Theriault, Jean-Michel LeBlanc and Matthew Gray scored for Saint John. Will Bower assisted on all three with Nicholas Phillips and J.M. LeBlanc picking up singles. 

Andrew Shewfelt, Josh Worthen and Jordan Wentzell replied for Dartmouth, assisted by Alex Anthony with a pair, Wentzell, Austin Harding and Brady Jacobs. Jacob King was in net for the Vitos and Aaron Mantle backstopped Dartmouth.

The Valley Wildcats started the scoring early in the first and it wasn't until the last two minutes of the frame that Moncton got on the board with a pair to lead 2-1. It was much the same in the second as the Wildcats jumped out to a 3-2 lead only to see the Flyers bounce back with a pair to go up 4-3 at the buzzer. Moncton started off the third with a goal and led 5-3 until late in the third when Valley got one back but they cooouldn't score the tieing goal as the minutes ticked away.

Joey Richard, Kevan Kostynski, Kyle Ward, Alexandre Jacob and Samuel LeBlanc scored for the Flyers. Nicholas Blanchard had a pair for Valley while Tyler McDowell and Grant Jones scored singles. 

Philippe Myers had three assists for Moncton, Joey Richard and Sam LeBlanc had a pair each and Jacob had a single. Rory Graham had a pair of assists for the Wildcats with Blanchard, Grant Jones and Brett Tidman each had singles.

Maxim Landry took the win in net while Justin Ritcey was tagged with the loss.

The Cornwall Thunde led for the first two periods of the game and four minutes into the third before Cole Harbour got their first goal but then they scored four to send the Thunder down to defeat.

Aaron Meahan started the Wolf Paks scoring spree and then Adam Kiri added a pair and Liam Rappoldt a singleton. Nicolas Bruce, Matthew Morefield, Andrew Dumeresque, Branden Kammermans and Kiri each had single helpers. 

Rowan O'Brien was the winning goalie with 25 saves. Bradley Shea took the loss with 19. 

It was all Cape Breton Islanders in the final game of the day as they scored one in the first, added three in the second and a final one in the third while holding Western Kings scoreless. Alex Bonaparte, Connor MacEachern with a pair, Randon MacKinnon and Colby Tower supplied the scoring power. 

Garrett Lambke had a pair of helpers as did Bradley Kennedy. Blade Mann-Dixon was the winner in net making 18 saves for the shutout. Ian Woolfrey took the loss with 18 saves. 

Western has not scored a goal in two games at the Ice Jam.

Spencer Sherren, Blaze Bridges and Jonathan Arsenault scored for the Thunder with assists to Jean-Marc Evans-Renaud with a pair and Bridges with a single.
