The Wild opened play in the East Coast Ice Jam hockey tournament with a 3-2 win over the Valley Wildcats in the afternoon, and then posted a 6-0 decision over the Cape Breton Unionized Tradesmen in a night game.
The Wild will look to go to 3-0 (won-lost) with a win against the South Shore Mustangs in their round-robin finale on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
The Charlottetown Pride skated to a 2-2 tie with the Halifax McDonalds in their opening game late Thursday night.
The plays twice on Friday – against the East Coast Blizzard at 11:30 a.m., and the Rothesay Netherwood Riverhawks at 7:30 p.m.
The Wild and Pride are members of the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League.

 

Wild 6 Tradesmen 0
Luke Oliver recorded the shutout, Colby MacArthur scored twice and Coleton Perry contributed two assists to lead the Wild.
Evan Gallant, Zach Thususka, Tayler Read and Frank Fortin rounded out the scoring for the Wild. Charlie DesRoches, Carter Cahill, Thomas Rennie, Cameron Roberts, Bennett MacArthur, Clark Webster and Robert Howatt collected helpers to round out Kensington’s balanced attack.
The Wild held period leads of 1-0 and 2-0, before scoring four third-period goals to put the game out of reach.

Pride 2 McDonalds 2
Kennedy Gallant and Blake Jamieson scored for the Pride. Logan Kelly-Murphy (2), Connor McGregor and Noah Stewart set up the goals.
After a scoreless first period, the Pride took a 1-0 lead into the final frame. Charlottetown extended that to a 2-0 cushion, but Halifax answered back to earn the tie as overtime failed to produce a winner.
Noah Laybolt was in goal for the Pride.
