HALIFAX, NS, January 10, 2015 - The Moncton Flyers will be in the semi finals of the East Coast Ice Jam Sunday morning after shutting out the Valley Wildcats 2-0 in the quarter finals and the Cape Breton West Islanders defeated the Fredericton Canadiens 4-1. The semi finals begin at 9am Sunday with the championship at 2:30pm at the Halifax Forum.

The Flyers scored both goals in the second and Julian Galloway kicked out every puck that came within reach to take the shutout.

Patrik Landry scored the first goal less than a minute into the period and Kyle Ward scored with just five minutes left. Liam Conrad assisted on both, Landry assisted on Ward’s goal. Luke Emin took the loss in net.

The Islanders went out to a 1-0 lead in the first on a power play goal by Matthew Morgan.  The Canadiens knotted the score with a goal in the second by Mika Cyr on a power play. It was the third that made the big difference as the Islanders scored three. Mark Kennedy,  Avery Warner and Declan Smith each scored once. Smith each assisted on one. Warner had a pair.

Levi Denny took the win in net while Ryan Hale took the loss.
