One to Watch: Matthew O’Leary – St. John’s Privateers

The St. John’s Privateers have a young team that is continuing to improve this season thanks to the efforts of defenseman Matthew O’Leary. Matthew is having a season that is seeing him reach many of his personal goals. This past November he played in the Monctonian Prospects Game and is also named to the 2015 Canada Games Team that will represent Newfoundland.  ” I also feel my personal game has gotten much better throughout the season. I had a great experience in the Monctonian and was honoured to play in the prospects game. I look forward to playing strong in the Icejam and later this winter at the Canada Games.”

Matthew feels he has adjusted well to the major midget level and is looking to catch the eyes of Q League scouts at the 2015 IceJam. “I believe my strongest attributes are that I am a good team player and I also think my skating and puck moving is a big part of my game. I also think I have good patience with the puck.”
